On 15 July 2020, AIAA convened an interactive panel to discuss institutional transformations that address challenges and provide opportunities for African Americans within the aerospace workforce pipeline. Experts representing government, academia, and industry highlighted examples of initiatives and resources for K-12 and youth development, undergraduate and postgraduate education, and workplace DEI programs.
This session was developed in partnership with the Aerospace Special Interest Group of the National Society of Black Engineers and featured opening remarks from Jandria Alexander, Chair of the AIAA Diversity and Inclusion Working Group.
Part II

On 21 July 2020, AIAA hosted an interactive session focused on discussing the experiences of women in the aerospace community. Leaders from professional engineering societies addressed the opportunities and challenges faced by their members and highlighted ongoing work toward diversity, equity, and inclusion.
This session featured opening remarks from Alex Straub, Chair of the AIAA Women of Aeronautics and Astronautics Committee, and was developed in collaboration with the American Indian Science and Engineering Society, the National Society of Black Engineers, the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, and the Society of Women Engineers.
