Dan Costello is currently the Director of the JSC Human Capital Office. Previously he served as the Deputy Director of JSC’s Human Capital Office.  

Previously, Dan supported Headquarters as the Deputy Director Business Operations Division in the Office of the Chief Human Capital Officer. In that role Dan established, managed, and directed daily operations for the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the Human Capital line of business. His team worked to develop, implement, and manage the Office of the Chief Human Capital Office governance process and ensure mission needs are appropriately represented in the Office of the Chief Human Capital Office’s investment decisions, and gain buy-in for major human capital investments.  

Dan also held the position of Branch Chief for the Human Capital Information Technology Branch and supported business applications across the human capital lifecycle. Dan has 15 years’ experience as a supervisor/leader of Agency IT programs and projects at NASA. Prior to joining NASA, Dan was a project manager and supervisor at AT&T, Lucent Technologies and Avaya communications. Prior to his work in the Information Technology industry, Dan was a high school teacher and coach.  

Dan holds a bachelors and a master’s degree from the University of Nebraska, certification in financial planning from Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies, and professional certificates in Project Management and IT Service Management.
